Skinderup MoelleSkinderup Moelle is located in the northern part of Jutland, 25 km north of Viborg. The place has a more than 500 year old history as a water mill. The fresh water farm was established in 1963 and eyed rainbow trout ova has been the main product for the whole period. The overall manager of the farm is Simon B. Madsen. Simon is a qualified veterinarian from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural High School. He received his degree in veterinary medicine in 2002. Besides running the farm Simon is also employed as a veterinarian specializing in aquaculture throughout the whole of Denmark.
The water supply is spring water with some additional bore hole water which secures a constant supply of good quality water for the egg production.
Our family breeding programme plays an important role in the work for constant improvement of the egg quality and performance of the offspring. The families are reared under identical conditions in the hatchery consisting of more than 60 units.
The brood stock fish are reared in earth ponds. Due to a limited amount of spring water, same degree of recirculation combined with a drum filter is used.
